MUSIC

Making music is entirely a hobby - I would never dare try and do it as a career, for no reason other than I can't read music and generally tend to have no idea what I'm doing. I enjoy making songs because, for me, it's a relatively similar process as writing; once you begin to have different elements interact with one another - be it different instruments on a track or the characters and story beats in a screenplay - that's where the really great stuff can emerge. Now, I would never dare call any of my music great, since it's just a hobby, but I'm still quite proud of releases like Lovers & Leftovers, and what I've learned from such projects I've been able to apply to the more important work, like when I did the soundtracks for Sobering Cell and Confessors.

Creating the soundtrack for Sobering Cell was incredibly fun. We only had two instances in the script, and later in the edit, where we needed music. The Credits theme is my favourite of the two; it conveys a lot of the sadness that the film does and compliments the very twisty nature the plot takes on, I really like it. Rooms was not-so-subtly aping the kind of music one would find in a David Lynch film, and it brings with it a lot of the same tone.TRACKLIST
1. Credits
2. Rooms

This is a collection of demos and random gubbins from after the release of L&L. Originally I wanted to make an album with a general 'space' theme, hence the name, and got a couple of rough songs done for that project (Tracks 1, 2 and 4. Astronomical is actually the earliest song of mine that I have public, from back in 2018). But then I got kinda sick of making music and dropped the project altogether, only to release this EP a few months later. I still think a few of these tracks are quite catchy, especially the first one, and for some of these I've gone back and fleshed them out some more - see my metal remix of 'Kill The Captain,' for example. I really love Friendly Fire, too. I've got some lyrics for that song, so who knows; maybe someday I'll bring a vocalist on to finish it fully.TRACKLIST
1. Action Stations Alpha
2. Ghost Ship
3. Intercepted
4. Kill The Captain
5. Astronomical
6. Tomb of Irn
7. Friendly Fire

This project started out as a retroactive 'B-Sides' release to my previous album, however it quickly evolved into a pseudo-concept album about how I was handling a lot of grief and loss at the time, but I still made sure the most important thing was that the music sounded good, and in all honestly I am very proud of what I was able to achieve with it.TRACKLIST
1. Back in the Flesh
2. Mechanical Menagerie
3. Chop To It
4. It's Getting Colder
5. The Big Game
6. May I Take Your Order?
7. Midnight Snack
8. Recipe
9. Apples & Oranges
10. Confide In Me:
a) To Stay Or To Go
b) The Same Damn Flavours
c) The Last Straw
d) Escape (A Kind of Dream)
e) Finale
11. Say Grace
12. Who's At The Door? (Bonus Track)

I am WAY more proud of this project than the first VGPJs, even if it remains unfinished. I think that if I'd actually completed the full track list, this would have been a pretty well-paced little piano cover album.TRACKLIST
1. Once Upon A Time (Undertale)
2. Pursuing My True Self (Persona 4)
3. Finish The Fight (Halo 3)
4. Green Hill Zone (Sonic The Hedgehog)
5. Snow (Super Mario Maker 2)
6. Results Screen (MarioKart Wii)
7. BB's Theme (Death Stranding)

The intro theme to what has now become The Embarrassment Chronicles on my channel, released as a single.

Back in 2019, I made this so-so piano cover album of my favourite video game music. I'd say I'm moderately proud of it, but obviously my original music is what I'm more inclined to show off. Still, Grant Kirkhope retweeted my announcement for it back in the day, which was the coolest thing in the world to me at the time.TRACKLIST
1. Main Title (Banjo-Kazooie)
2. Pop Star (Kirby and the Crystal Shards)
3. Title Theme Medley (Mega Man 3)
4. Encounter (Metal Gear Solid)
5. Mushroom House (Super Mario Bros. 3)
6. Life Will Change (Persona 5)
7. Techno Syndrome (Mortal Kombat)
8. Korobeiniki (TETRIS)
9. Kawaita Sakebi (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
10. Let's Hit The Climax! (Bayonetta)
11. Endless Possibility (Sonic Unleashed)

For over five years, I was making a food-themed platformer video game and in that process, I created a soundtrack. That game never came to be, so I decided to release the music I had made up until then as an instrumental album in January 2021. In June 2022, I rearranged the track Cutlery Clouds, and in July 2023 I put together an all-new remaster of the album, featuring a new bonus track 'Sell By Date.'TRACKLIST
1. Overture / Food Fight
2. Big Cheese Adventures
3. A Perilous Quest
4. Cutlery Clouds
5. Food-Related Pun
6. There's Been an Accident!
7. Just Peachy
8. Pineapple Plaza

12. Let There Be Dinner
13. Plum Palace
14. Hungry For More
15. Chow Down
16. EntreƩ Nous
17. Flavour!
18. Reprisal
19. It's All Worked Out for the Best

Until Tomorrow

Aired: May 31st 2024
This is the first short film released under SPOOF Productions that I didn't direct - it was a project by the immensely-talented Emilie Ward, who I worked with previously on the Unknown World music video. I was producer for this short film, and it was probably one of the most stressful processes I've had to work through. It did, however, teach me a lot about how films get made, so it was definitely worth it I'd say. I also did the music and general marketing for the film, which is always fun. Check it out!

My Favourite Movies of 2023

Aired: March 12th 2024
It's been a while, but I thought I'd waffle about my favourite films from last year. Got a problem with that?

Unknown World - Jack Hodgy (Music Video)

Aired: January 11th 2024
I edited this music video! How cool is that? This is probably the most professional project I've gotten to work on at time of writing, and I'm proud of the whole crew and thankful that I got to be a part of it. Also, I play a corpse, the role I was born for!

Banned From The Aux (Music Video)

Aired: October 6th 2023
The second single from Banned From The Aux, where this time I slapped my phone against my accommodation window and filmed the traffic for a bit.

Where I'm At Right Now (Music Video)

Aired: August 5th 2023
The first single from my album Banned From The Aux. It was a very cold and muddy shoot, but I'm quite proud of how well the footage came out despite using my iPhone.

WE WENT TO OUR MOVIE PREMIERE

Aired: July 16th 2023
Confessors had a premiere in a theatre, and we filmed some stuff on the day (as well as beforehand when we went and got lunch) - that's what this video is. Some of my best editing so far is featured here, mainly my discovery of the liquify tool for videos in Photoshop.

Where Your Cans Go (Video Factoid)

Aired: June 28th 2023
As with the Lorax trailer prior to Confessors, this was a short little video I helped make before I really started work on A Personal Note. You can tell I edited it because of the shameless use of Persona 5 music. Arif did a great job with the voiceover here, and Lily is an amazing writer!

LORAX (2023) - Trailer Parody

Aired: June 28th 2023
This was a project I worked on prior to the start of Confessors' pre-production, and it was a lot of fun! I feel as though I've really honed in on editing trailers well at this point; lots of neat jokes I managed to cram in here. Thierry was great with the VO, too.

The Magic of MGSV Trailers | A Video Essay

Aired: June 1st 2023
Description: Get ready for the most obscure video topic ever, as I explain why the trailers edited by Hideo Kojima are so cool.

Leicester College Mega Media Showcase 2023 Commercial

Aired: May 30th 2023
The commercial from 2022 went down weirdly well, and so I was given the keys to the castle and was asked to handle not only the promo for 2023, but also the intermissions that would be featured during the show itself. This was a chance to, basically, see what I could get away with, and the result is even more crazy and hysterical than the first ad! Gotta give it up to Max for agreeing to do all this with us. He's a saint!

Friends of the Earth Leicester - Pesticides Promo

Aired: May 25th 2023
This was a gig I got a few months ago, and what a great cause! Had a lot of fun editing this one, and getting to meet the staff at FotE when we went out to shoot the footage.

The Art of the Anthology | A Video Essay

Aired: November 2nd 2022
Description: It's wheels within wheels! Or films within films. Or something.

The Annoying World of Home Media | A Video Essay

Aired: June 20th 2022
Description: I take you through the relatively aggravating history of watching movies from the comfort of your living room.

You Can Talk to Me - The Elms Estate (Music Video)

Aired: July 1st 2022
We got to work with a really great local band, The Elms Estate, on this video. Speaking to them, they were really supportive of our ideas and our interpretation of the track, which isn't exactly what the song is actually about, but I think the meaning we came up with still works. It's always wonderful to work with Joel, and this shoot was way less stressful than Sobering Cell - not to diss that production, it's just we had more time to stew on concepts and ideas for shots on this one. Thierry Dreckette, who you see in the video, also had a hand in directing, and his shots are really great. Music videos are obviously a different beast compared to making a narrative feature, but I definitely have a taste for the form now and would love to make more music videos at some point.

Leicester College Mega Media Showcase 2022 Commercial

Aired: June 7th 2022
This in an ad I made with some colleagues for my college's end of year show, where all of our finished work would be showcased. Right away, this project was a massive opportunity to get creative with editing, as you can most likely tell. It was a fun shoot! The other editor, Arif Ali (Writer, Pick Your Poison), brought so many funny ideas to the table, as did the fella you see in the video Max Stafford (Director, Pick Your Poison).

Pre-Production Research & Nirvanna: The Band: The Show | A Video Essay

Aired: October 9th 2021
Description: I had to learn about film pre-production research for my film course so now you do too.
I look very shiny and awful in this video, which is why I decided not to risk using a green screen for my future video essays.

Edward Vs. (2019-2021)

EPISODE IAired: December 18th 2019
Description: As his quest begins, our hero journeys to destroy notorious Pimp Slickback.

EPISODE IIAired: July 28th 2021
Description: Drawn in by a mysterious murder, Edward is led on a trail of clues to his first target.

About

George Williams

(ME)

I was born in Leicester, England. For about as long as I can remember, I've been in love with film, and making things in general. Over the course of the last five years, I've been releasing all sorts of content online, be it video essays, edits and short films on my YouTube channel The Lost Episode, my love affair with making music - most of which is available on streaming services - my film reviews on Letterboxd or whatever other weird experiments I've released onto an unprepared world. I'd like to think I've improved in that time, lmao.My passion is writing and filmmaking as a whole; I've had the chance to express it with projects such as Sobering Cell - my short film debut alongside Joel Johnson in 2022, my music documentary A Personal Note, and the anthology film I got the chance to be a part of, Confessors. I've also got some music videos I worked on - mainly for local band The Elms Estate, as well as a couple for my own 'music.'
As for what I'll be up to in the future, I'm not sure yet; I've got one or two ideas for scripts or projects or what have you, but those are all quite far off, I'd say. In the near future, you'll probably see me working on stuff in a smaller role, or stuff I done got paid for. Guess we'll see.
